A new school year is just around the corner. This means new opportunities for growth in the school year ahead. A new school year is the perfect opportunity to restart or implement healthy habits when it comes to our smiles and teeth. At Coleman Orthodontics, the vision of our practice is to “Embrace the Experience!” We don’t just provide orthodontic treatment to patients, we provide patients with an entire experience that can truly be life changing. Here are 5 ways to restart or implement healthy habits.

#1) Switch Toothbrush: The ADA recommends switching out your toothbrush every 3-4 months for health reasons and because the bristles can be too stiff or damaged. This simple step will keep your mouth and teeth feeling fresh and healthy.

#2) Pledge to Floss More: Every patient that comes through our office, we ensure to remind them of a simple, yet effective oral health habit - flossing. It’s never too late to late to begin flossing.

#3) Scheduling Visits: It is important to regularly maintain your monthly or yearly schedules, with both your dentist and orthodontist. This will ensure your smile and teeth, remain healthy.

#4) Wear Your Retainers: Prevent your teeth from shifting, even after orthodontic treatment, by wearing your retainers. It can be a daunting step, yet it will help keep your smile in top shape.

#5) Utilize Mouthwash: August 6th is National Fresh Breath Day, a perfect opportunity to remember to use mouthwash. Utilizing mouthwash can be an added step to ensure your smile and oral health care is in excellent shape. Along with brushing your teeth and flossing, all three work together to fight bad breath and bacteria, keeping your smile healthy.
