Service Project: Community Schools

Dear Friends and Families,

We have been very fortunate as an orthodontic staff over the last two years to be involved together with many of you in providing service to various people and organizations in need.  It has been so rewarding for us to team up with you and witness the generosity of so many who have willingly supported our cause.

Two years ago, we collected clothing and supplies to donate to the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake City.  The response from you was so overwhelming that the shelter did not have room enough for all of the clothes that we delivered. Last year, you helped us collect hygiene products that were given to women recovering from drug addictions and abuse and to their children who they were doing their best to raise.

This year, we have identified another need and would like to invite you to participate with us in supporting this organization.  Community Schools has teamed with the Ogden School District and the United Way in helping and supporting students at nine schools throughout Ogden City. Many of the students attending these schools have no homes to go to at the end of the day. Many don’t receive regular meals or help with reading or homework.  Some of them are still learning how to speak English.

The Community School program helps in several ways. They offer reading events in the schools that provide a safe place for these kids to practice their reading and English. Blankets are given to many of the kids who attend these reading events.  Hygiene supplies are kept on hand and at the ready for those without. Community Schools has asked for help in the following ways:
  • Donations of gently used or new books (kids, teenagers, and adult books)
  • Donations of new blankets
  • Donations of any hygiene products (soap, lotion, razors, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)
We will be collecting these items in our office until January 9th. We would appreciate any donations that you feel you could provide and thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. We are most grateful for our associations and friendships with all of you. We hope you enjoy your Holidays!

Your Friends,
Dr. Brett Coleman and Staff
