The 4 Best Treats on Halloween for Braces Wearers

Image
Halloween is right around the corner! One of the common orthodontic myths throughout this fall season is that orthodontic treatment is purely cosmetic. That is farther from the truth. With the best innovative technology in our Syracuse community, we are passionate about making our patients love their smiles. Smiles are the most noticeable results when finishing treatment, however, there is much more that goes on below the surface of our teeth and gums. Our overall health is important before, during and after orthodontic treatment. When your teeth and jaws are aligned, your bite, the way you chew and speak all are made better through orthodontic treatment, leading to overall improved health. The beautiful smile from braces, Invisalign and other orthodontic treatment is an outward benefit. Orthodontists play a larger role in healthcare than is generally realized, and our teeth and jaws play a significant role, which is why it is important to keep them healthy and in tip-top shape. ...

When Should my Child see an Orthodontist?

What is the right age your child should be seen by an orthodontist? The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that all children have a check-up with an orthodontist by the time they reach age seven, for early detection of any potential problems. We know seven sounds young and may even early to be thinking about braces. However, early diagnosis and treatment can help guide facial development and tooth eruption thereby preventing more serious problems from occurring later in your child's life. Treating children during these early growth stages allows results to be achieved that may not be possible once facial bones have fully developed. A check-up may reveal that your child’s bite is fine. Or it may determine that early treatment is indicated to prevent or intercept more serious problems from developing as our team can detect subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while some baby teeth are still present. While your child’s teeth may appear to be stra...
